Mary Margaret Johnson, 92, of Dover, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover.A daughter of the late Beatty and Mabel (Lab) Brannen, Mary was born February 20, 1917 at Somerdale, Ohio.On May 8, 1937, Mary married Robert Johnson and together they reared five children, Anna May, Roberta, Earl, Gerald and William. The couple shared 45 years of marriage prior to Bob’s passing in 1982.Mary was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia and also a member of The Gleaner’s Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Somerdale Ladies Aide Society and she enjoyed crocheting and crafts.She is survived by her children, Anna May (Dale) Bailey of Georgia, Roberta (Foster) Hicks of New Philadelphia, Earl (Marsha) Johnson of Dover, Gerald Johnson of Beach City and Bill (Faye) Johnson of Mineral City; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two grandchildren, Gerald Johnson II and Bradley Stewart Bailey; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Johnson and two brothers, Howard and William.The family will receive guests on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Mary’s grandson, Pastor Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in New Cumberland Cemetery. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the fellowship hall of the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622 or to the First Church of the Nazarene, 233 Fair Avenue NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
