Mary M. Goodwin

Mary M. Goodwin, 98, of Dover, died Friday, June 25, 2010 in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Andy and Rilla (Stagts) Thomason, Mary was born May 30, 1912 in Hornwell, Tennessee.Mary retired as a clerk from Montgomery Ward at the time of their closing.She enjoyed watching cooking programs on television and would often trade recipes with family and friends. Mary also enjoyed taking bus trips with her late husband as well as crocheting.Most of all, she cherished her family and the time spent babysitting her grandchildren.She is survived by her son John Goodwin and his wife Janet of Dover; three grandsons, John Goodwin of Strasburg, Joe (Rene) Goodwin of Dover and Jeff (April) Goodwin of New Philadelphia; four great grandchildren, John Hemonetoes of Florida, Joel (Cortney) Goodwin of Dover, Jacob Goodwin of New Philadelphia and Sarah Kenosky of Dover; two great great grandchildren, Caden Goodwin and Katrina Kenosky both of Dover and many nieces and nephews.Mary is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Victor Goodwin, whom she married on October 29, 1932 at Wheeling, West Virginia; two sisters, Mina Rich and Mabel Douglas and three brothers, Cletus, Joe and Howard Thomason.The family will receive guests on Monday, June 28, 2010 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Steve Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park at Dover.
