Mary Lucille Meese

Mary Lucille Meese, age 69, of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, formerly of New Philadelphia, died Sunday afternoon, March 13, 2005, in Union Hospital at Dover. Born in Newcomerstown, March 24, 1935, she was one of ten children born to the late Andrew and Florence Johnson Getchey. Mary worked as a secretary in the business office at Massillon State Hospital, before her retirement in 1997. On January 7, 1961, she married Harold L . Meese Sr. They spent three decades together before his death on March 3, 1992.Survivors include three sons and a daughter; Timothy Tompkins of Dover, Michael T. (Sharon) Tompkins of Beach City, Gary Lee Meese of Long Beach, CA, and Carol (Bud) Sponseller of Loveland, CO, grandchildren; Travis, Tyler, Michael Adam, and Angel Tompkins, Beth and Tammy Meese, and Michelle Santee, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She’ll be sadly missed by her three sisters that survive, Della Everhart of Newcomerstown, Pauline (George) Smith of Uhrichsville, and Alice (Robert) Doolin of Port Washington. In addition to her parents and husband, a son; Harold L. Meese Jr., a sister, Margaret Galbraith, and brothers Walter, Frank, Clarence and Richard Getchey precede her in death. Friends are invited to call Wednesday afternoon, March 16, from 1 until 2 PM in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 North Wooster Avenue at Dover, where the Reverend Hugh B. Berry will officiate Mrs. Meese’s funeral at 2PM. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, in Salem Township.
