Mary Luciel Endres, 86, Dover, formerly of New Philadelphia, died Friday evening, January 23, 2004, at Union Hospital in Dover.Luciel was born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 3, 1917, to the late Forrest and Gladys Edie Barnes.Married to Paul E. Endres, who preceded her in death on June 29, 1979, Luciel was a loving wife and mother who spent many volunteer hours with Tuscarawas County Council for Church and Community, Union Hospital, and Hospice of Tuscarawas County.She had been employed as a clerk at the Little Professor Book Store in Dover and at Starlite Workshop and School in New Philadelphia.Luciel was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia and was an active member of the church Altar Society.She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Wink) Casey of Covesville, VA and Deborah L. (Allen) Landis of Dover; three sons, John R. (Ellie) Endres of Cape Coral, FL, David P. (Jerri) of Hendersonville, NC, and Joseph (Gail) Endres of Wooster; two brothers, Wayne (Edna) Barnes and Gene (Janet) Barnes of New Philadelphia; three sisters, Florence Meek and Evelyn Halloy of New Philadelphia, and Phyllis (Jack) Levengood of Florida; sister-in-law, Esther (Adam) Fishel of New Philadelphia; twelve grandchildren., and five great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, an infant brother, sister-in-law, Florence Endres, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Clara Endres, and brothers-in-law, Earl Meek and Joe Halloy preceded her in death.Friends may call on the family on Monday evening, January 26, 2004, between 6 and 8 pm at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Msgr. George J. Schlegel on Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church in New Philadelphia. Those planning to attend should meet at Sacred Heart Church where the procession will form. Luciel will be laid to rest beside her husband at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia.Following the services, the family will host a reception at St Ambrose Hall.Memorials in Luciel’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society, 201-A West Ohio Avenue, Dover, OH 44622 or to the American Diabetes Association, Northeast Ohio, 1815 W. Market St., Suite 108, Akron, OH 444313.
