Mary Lou King, age 80 of New Philadelphia, died Sunday evening, June 19, 2011, in Riverside Manor at Newcomerstown following a period of declining health.Born in Martins Ferry, O. on October 18, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James Ross and Anna Louise (Williams) Mercer.On August 5, 1951, Mary Lou wed her lifelong companion, the late Laverne Warren King. Together, they reared two daughters, Marcia and Lesli.Mary Lou worked as a young lady at Ohio Power. She retired from Bambeck Auctioneers as a cashier after more than 20 years of employment.Her memberships included St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover, the Tuscarawas County Senior Center and the New Philadelphia Elks Lodge #510.Additionally, Mary Lou loved to entertain, travel, and spend time with her family and friends.She is survived by her daughters, Marcia J. (Joseph) Lukens of New Philadelphia and Lesli J. (Harry) Humphries of Lehigh Acres, Fl; her brother, Carl (Romona) Mercer of Perrysburg, O.; her grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly) Lautzenheiser, Miranda Lukens, and Mary Ann Lukens; and her great-grandchildren, Douglas and Benjamin Lautzenheiser.In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kimberly and Douglas Lautzenheiser.Visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. Pastor Brian Flood will officiate her funeral service in the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial alongside her husband will follow in Dover Burial Park. Friends are invited to the Geib Funeral Center’s hospitality room where a luncheon will be served following the committal service.Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website.
