Mary L. Thomas

Mary L. Thomas, 91, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, May 19, 2006, in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.A daughter of the late Michael and Edna (Schott) Endres, Mary was born July 18, 1914 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.She was a 1931 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Dover and also attended Kent State University.Mary was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia where she served in the Altar Society. She was also a member of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary.She is survived by one son and his wife, Michael “Tim” and Mary Kay Thomas of Cincinnati; one grandson, Michael J. Thomas of Clearwater, Florida; two sisters, Betty Lutz of Chicago, Illinois and Rita (Bud) Niger of New Philadelphia; one brother-in-law, Howard Shaffer of New Philadelphia; a dear niece and caregiver, Peg Talley of New Philadelphia and many other nieces and nephews.Mary was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Robert J. Thomas whom she married on November 13, 1937. Robert passed away June 2, 1998. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marianne and five sisters.Family and friends may call in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service being held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia with Monsignor George J. Schlegel and Father John P. Fisher as main celebrant and Father Charles Talley, OFM (Nephew) as homilist. The family requests all attending Roman Catholic Clergy attendees vest and concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
