Mary Katherine Mackovich

Mary Katherine Mackovich, age 90, of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, and formerly of New Philadelphia, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008.Born in Buffalo, New York on December 30, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Katherine (Grguric) Mackovich. After completing her formal education at Orange High School in Cleveland, she began her professional career. She was most recently employed by Joy Manufacturing in New Philadelphia for 17 years prior to her retirement. Mary was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church where she was active in the Senior Citizens and Altar Societies. She was also a member of the Steelworkers Retirees. After retirement, Mary enjoyed traveling with her twin sister, Elizabeth Stemple.Mary is survived by her nieces and nephews Nancy (Raymond) Sigler, Cindi Turney and Patricia (Gene) Hughes, all of New Philadelphia, Cathie (Ron) Renicker of Midvale, Steve (Jeri) Stemple and Tom Stemple, both of New Philadelphia, Arthur Monte of Mentor, John (Janet) Monte of Florida, Donald Monte of Mexico and Richard (Carol) Monte of Arizona; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews, and great-great-great nieces and great-great-great nephews.In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, John Mackovich her twin sister, Elizabeth Stemple, her sister, Lucille Monte, and her nephew, James Monte.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia beginning at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m. Burial will follow mass at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery in Roswell.Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
