Mary K. Adams, 86, of New Philadelphia passed away in her residence on Sunday, October 8, 2006, following a three month battle with gastric cancer.She was a life resident of New Philadelphia except for the twelve years she lived in Dover to care for her son during his illness. She was born at home in a house at 130 Park Ave. N.W., New Philadelphia, Ohio, on Saturday, August 21, 1920. She was a daughter of the late Russell L. and Hazel M. Smith Miller.On Tuesday, September 30, 1941, she was married to Harold E. Adams at St. James Lutheran Church in Wheeling, West Virginia, by The Reverend Paul W. Nesper. She and Harold had two children, a daughter, Judith, and a son, Michael.Her passion in life was her family and she found great satisfaction in being a wife, mother, and homemaker. After her husband’s death, she worked at Buehler’s Food Market in New Philadelphia, retiring in 1977.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Aden Schrock; a brother-in-law, Howard Edie, all of New Philadelphia; a nephew, James (Jo Ann) Edie of Dover; and a great-niece, Suzanne (Dave) Haussermann of Dublin, Ohio.She was preceded in death by her son, Mike Adams, in 2003; her husband, Harold E. Adams; her sister, Marjorie J. (Miller) Edie; her parents, Russell L. and Hazel (Smith) Miller and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Freda and Sumner Adams.Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A service celebrating Mary’s life will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. with The Rev. Dr. Steven R. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia. Friends and family are invited to a reception hosted by Mary’s church family at the First United Methodist Church, following the burial.The family requests memorials be sent to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W. 3rd St. Dover, Ohio 44622 or the First United Methodist Church, 201 W. High Avenue, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
