Mary Jo Zedi, 64, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, January 2, 2016, while in the care of Community Hospice at New Philadelphia, following a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
A daughter of the late James Drury and Allah Jo (May) Larkin, Mary was born at Jackson, Tennessee on July 15, 1951.
She was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School and on February 2, 1979, married her best friend and love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Zedi.
Together, the couple enjoyed traveling the countryside, often taking road trips to explore new found outdoor places. Mary found great joy in being able to spend time with Chuck as they hiked and walked along many outdoor trails and explored nature.
For many years she was employed by the former Endres Floral Greenhouse and most recently was employed as a supervisor with Ameridial at New Philadelphia. She loved working alongside her co-workers and personally helping each of them as she was able. A giving and caring person by nature, Mary loved helping anyone in need.
In addition to her husband of 36 years, Mary leaves behind her son, Mark (Kristy) Burkholder of Alabama; her siblings, Donna (Mike) Myers of Strasburg, Brenda Murphy of New Phila., Barb (Mark) Cline of Gnadenhutten, Cindy (Bill) Britton of Dallas, Texas; Thomas Larkin and Darrell (Michele) Larkin, both of Dover; four grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Holly Hursey.
In keeping with Mary’s wishes, private services will be held. Cremation care is being conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
