Mary Jeane Neiger, 82, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, March 06, 2010 in Hennis Care & Retirement Centre at Dover.A daughter of the late William and Lois (Taylor) Stewart, Mary was born January 30, 1928 at Freeport, Ohio.On November 22, 1947, Mary married the love of her life, William Jacob Neiger and together they would raise three children, Linda, Phil and Craig. Mary and Bill owned and operated Neiger’s Drive-In for many years. After closing the drive-in, the couple managed many different motels across Ohio, Arizona and California until their retirement The couple shared 49 years of marriage prior to Bill’s passing on February 2, 1996.Mary was a member of Jerusalem Church and worked for many years as a waitress at the former L & K, Randall’s and Delphian Restaurants.She enjoyed crocheting, reading and crossword puzzles. Mary was also an avid fan of Jamboree in the Hills and personally attended many of the summertime concerts.She is survived by her children, Linda Trimble Mathias and her longtime companion, Larry Mathias, Phil Neiger and his wife Sue and Craig Neiger all of New Philadelphia; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Faye Dummermuth of New Philadelphia and a brother, Ed Stewart of Tennessee.Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Donna Gray.The family will receive guests on Monday, March 8, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 1 p.m. in Jerusalem Church with Dr. Terry Downin officiating. Burial will follow in Jerusalem Church Cemetery.
