Mary Jean Pallas

Mary Pallas, 94, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Anthony and Carmella (Cutrepe) Granato, Mary was born February 19, 1922 at Dennison, Ohio.

On August 5, 1941, Mary married John R. Pallas and together they raised two daughters, Cookie and Debbie.  The couple shared 38 years of marriage prior to John’s passing on April 26, 1980.

Mary enjoyed watching classic movies with her family as well as scrapbooking and completing word search puzzles.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia.

Those who knew and loved Mary will remember this beautiful lady for her sense of humor, her kindness and compassion toward everyone and her loving devotion to her family.  The strength and courage she showed in her final journey to her heavenly home was an inspiration to all.

She is survived by her daughters, Cookie Pallas and Debbie Pallas both of New Philadelphia; a special niece and Goddaughter, Patricia Proper of New Philadelphia; a special nephew, David Proper of New Philadelphia and several other nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters, Rose Bennett, Sarah Granville, Jenny Leonard, Ida Granato and Hazel Granato and five brothers, Joseph, Dominic, Peter, Ross and Samuel.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake service being held at 4 p.m.  Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
