Mary Jane Wise

Mary Jane Wise, age 86, of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, and formerly of New Philadelphia, died early Wednesday, September 28, 2011.A daughter of the late John and Helen Hare Wise, Mary Jane was born at New Philadelphia on August 26, 1925 and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia.A graduate of the former Saint Joseph’s High School at Dover, Mary Jane continued her formal education and became a nurse. In 1946, she began a career in the maternity ward of Union Hospital at Dover which spanned four decades and after helping to deliver and care for what was likely several thousand infants, she retired in 1988.Mary Jane was active within her church parish where she was a member of the LCBA and the Altar Society and served as a volunteer in the church’s office for many years.Additionally, she was a fan of the Cleveland sports teams and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and doing hand embroidery.While Mary Jane never had children of her own, she found great joy in spending time and sharing the company of her many nieces and nephews and enjoyed visits from a nephew’s Pit Bull, Domino.Mary Jane is survived by four sisters, Jacqualynn (Vincent) Sandy, Patricia Kennedy, Eilein Liberatore all of Dover and Marguerite Ledger of New Philadelphia as well as numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Corden Liberatore, Gene Kennedy, and R. Leo Ledger.The family will receive friends on Friday, September 30, 2011, from 1:30 â?? 2:30 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Monsignor George Schlegel and Father Jeff Coning will concelebrate a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia on Friday at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following services, the family wishes to invite guests to join them in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia Funeral Home, where a meal and fellowship will be shared.Memorial contributions in Mary Jane’s memory may be directed to Sacred Heart Church, 139 Third Street NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663
