Mary Jane Waddington, age 83, of Dover, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, in Union Hospital at Dover.A daughter of the late Harry and Hazel “Minnie” Morgan Ross, Mary was born at Dover, Ohio on July 12, 1925.She was a graduate of Dover High School. Following graduation, Mary worked for a period of time for the Goodyear Company at Akron, Ohio.Mary met and married Carl D. Waddington, Jr.; and soon after, Carl entered into a career with the United States Navy. His faithful wife followed him to various living assignments from Sicily to Bermuda and to various locations throughout the United States. It was throughout those assignments, that the family of two became a family of four that included a son and a daughter.Throughout her life, Mary had many passions. She enjoyed decorating her homes as the family moved about and cooking and caring for her family. Additionally, Mary was involved in a handful of area Bridge Clubs and was an active member of the Lady Elks.She is survived by her children, Wendy (Joel) Turner of Martinsville, Virginia and John (Cathy) Waddington of Uhrichsville; four grandsons, Jeremy Turner, Jordan Turner, Aaron Waddington, and Alex Waddington; two granddaughters, Brooke (Troy) Champagne and Kristi Hernandez; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Max and Lee Waddington of Dover; and a sister-in-law, Carol Ross Ault of New Philadelphia.Numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Carl who passed on October 18, 2007, and numerous brothers and sisters.In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no public services or visitation. Funeral arrangements are being handled through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Burial at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover is planned for a later date.
