Mary Jane Stocksdale, 96, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 in New Dawn Healthcare Center at Dover.A daughter of the late Elmer and Helen (Torgler) Ripple, Mary Jane was born October 19, 1913 at Dover, Ohio.Mary Jane was a longtime employee of Marlowe’s Drug Store at Dover and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia.She was a lifetime member of the Union Hospital Auxiliary and a former member of the Literacy Club of Dover. Mary Jane was also an avid bridge player.She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Townsend of Ridgefield, Connecticut; granddaughters, Sarah Jane Pomposello of Connecticut, Rachel Lee Townsend of Montana and Elizabeth Ann Townsend of Connecticut; two great granddaughters, Sophia Jane and Aveline Mary Pomposello; a sister, June Limbacher of Dover; a brother, Wayne Rippel of Florida and her longtime caregiver, Dana Parsons of Brightwood.Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell E. Stocksdale whom she married on April 15, 1939; a daughter, Vicki Stocksdale and three brothers, Joe, Dave and Bill Ripple.In keeping with Mary Jane’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a time of fellowship in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia. Private family Inurnment will take place on Friday, October 30, 2009 in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Mary Jane’s memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622.
