Mary Jane Price

Mary Jane Price, 83, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly on Friday, December 14, 2007 in her home.A daughter of the late Dean W. and Mary Ann (Linard) Exley, Jane was born on October 23, 1924 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.Jane graduated in 1942 from New Philadelphia High School and following her graduation, she attended the former Beckwith Business College at New Philadelphia. She was first employed by the former Montgomery Ward & Company at New Philadelphia and in 1988, Jane retired from Union Hospital at Dover where she worked in both the admissions and accounting departments.She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia as well as a member and Past Worthy Matron of the New Philadelphia Order of the Eastern Star #222. Jane also thoroughly enjoyed scouting and she served as a Girl Scout Leader for many years.Jane is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Gary Shumaker of New Philadelphia; a grandson, Gary M. Shumaker and his wife Wendy of New Philadelphia and two great grandchildren, Nathan and Kelly Shumaker.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack N. Price, who passed away in 1996 and a brother, Kenneth E. Exley.In keeping with Jane’s wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Jane’s family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Following the service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Jane’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
