Mary Jane Hudnall, age 61 of New Philadelphia died Monday, March 21, 2011, in Union Hospital at Dover following an unexpected illness. A daughter of the late George and Nora Slates Snyder, Mary was born at Massillon, Ohio on February 5, 1950. She attended Massillon-Washington High School and went on to work as a home health aide for more than 20 years. She loved her work, never thinking of it as a job, but an opportunity to help those in need. She especially grew fond of caring for the elderly and building relationships which have lasted for years with not only those in her care but with their families as well.In her spare time, Mary enjoyed taking trips to Wheeling Island and playing bingo. During the summer months, she traveled to local fairs and festivals to listen to bands and entertainers which happened to be performing at that time. Quite often she was seated in the front row in her lawn chair soaking up the entertainment and enjoying the fellowship of those around. She was affectionately known as the “motor butt” by her family simply because she loved to be out and about. Stopping to visit her children, her friends, going shopping, running errands or helping someone with a project was often the reason for Mary to be away from home for hours at a time on a very regular basis. The time she cherished most was that of being able to visit with her grandchildren and close friends, her loving, giving and caring personality made her easy to get along with and a joy to be around. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 24 years, whom she married on Thanksgiving Day, 1986, Ricky Hudnall of the home; her children, Charles Elliott (Michele) Snyder, David Allen (Tracy) Blake all of Baltic, Richard Lee Thomas (Kimberly) Blake of New Philadelphia, and Tiffany Marie (Leroy) Zedi of Dover; and a brother, George (Opal) Snyder of Massillon. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; Cory, Thane, Amber, Sebastian, Hunter, Jordan, Jesse, Jared, Bethany, Dirk, Logan, Bobby, Chanler, Daniel, and Tionna; a former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Miskimen, and a long-time friend, Roberta “Birdie” Slocum. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by four brothers; Charles, Clyde, and Alvin Knight, and Richard Snyder; and two sisters, Ruth Ann and Nancy Snyder. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 25, 2011, from 4:00 â?? 7:00 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor David Snyder will lead a funeral service celebrating Mary’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Friday at 7:00 p.m.Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be directed to Community Hospice, 201 W.
