Mary Isabell Ricer, age 88, of Park Village Healthcare Center at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia died peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2012.
A daughter of the late Elmer and Edna (Arth) Stucky, Mary was born in the family home at York Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio on June 4, 1924.
On January 18, 1941 at Woodsfield, Ohio Mary wed Raymond Lewis Ricer. As a couple they reared four children and shared in 54 years of marriage prior to his passing on November 7, 1995.
Mary was a lifelong member of Jerusalem Church and had worked for the former Bond Shoe Store at New Philadelphia and the Montgomery Ward Store formerly located in the Miracle Lane Plaza at Dover prior to retiring in 1981. She also enjoyed her time as a Tupperware Consultant. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading her Bible, caring for others, and cooking for her family.
She is survived by two sons, Frederick (Doris) Ricer of Navarre, Richard (Janet) Ricer of Carrollton; a daughter, Marjorie (John) Wilkins of Lusby Maryland; a brother, Earl Stucky of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren, Linda (Douglas) Hummel, Frederick Ricer, Jr., Denise (Michael) Collins, Rick (Andrea) Ricer, Julie (Shane) Deitz, Paul Hogue, Kimberly (Jack) Russo and Roxanne Wilkins, and two step-grandchildren, Paul (Amy) McKibben and Lynde (Warren) Cameron.
Nineteen great-grandchildren, Thomas, Timothy (wife, Caitlyn), Tiffany, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Melanie, Robert, Brittany, Dana, Chavelle, Megan, Maureen, Caitlin, Patrick, Rebecca, Shalynn, Benjamin, Rachel, and Jonathan; six step-great grandchildren, Madison, Dylan, Trinity, Desa, Whitney, and Hailey as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Houge; a granddaughter, Rebecca and three brothers, Raymond Stucky, Wilbert Stucky, and an infant brother, Elden Stucky.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 15, 2012, from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Frank Sapp, Jr. will lead a service celebrating Mary’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following services, all are invited to join the family for a time of food and fellowship in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia Funeral Home.
