Mary I. Syler

Mary I. Syler, 97, of New Dawn Health Care and Retirement Ceter, in Dover, formerly of Baltic and Sugarcreek, died Sunday, May 4, 2003, in Dover.Born July 7, 1905, in Coshocton County, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ellen Vansicle Nelson. She attended St. John Lutheran Church in Baltic. Mary enjoyed crocheting and her bell collection. She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.Surviving are three daughters, Marilyn Geckler of New Philadelphia, Clara Young of Columbus, Roberta (Donald) Beamer of Wainwright; four sons, Elmer Syler and Doran Syler, both of New Philadelphia, James (Pauline) Syler of Baltic, Robert (Eileen) Syler of Dover; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Syler who died May3, 1963; four sisters, two brothers, five grandchildren and one great-grandson.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2003, from 5-8 PM at the Smith-Geib Funeral Home in Sugarcreek. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 8, at 2PM at the Smith-Geib Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Baltic.
