Chris Haugh

Mary Christine “Chris” Haugh, age 81, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, Sunday, July 23, 2023, following a period of declining health while in the care of Schoenbrunn Health Care Center at New Philadelphia.

Born at New Philadelphia on December 24, 1941, Chris, as she was known to family and friends, was the daughter of the late Raymond M. and Mary C. (Sokowoski) Bigler and a 1959 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. On June 6, 1964, she married Charles H. Haugh and as a couple raised two children.

Chris was first and foremost a wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved to cook for her family and would tend to her flowers that were planted around the house. As a longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish, she dedicated many years to cleaning the Parish Rectory for the Priests that were in residence.

On January 29, 2023, Chuck, Chris’s husband of 58 years, preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Shannan Kalich of North Carolina, and Daniel (Jill) Haugh of New Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Tyler Wright, Kaylee Slemmer, Allyssa Haugh, and Hunter (Brook Gill) Haugh; four great-grandchildren, Knox, Ariella, Everett, and Azalea.

The family will greet guests on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 10 – 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Father Jeff Coning will lead a memorial service in the funeral home’s chapel beginning at 11 AM. Private burial will take place, alongside her husband, in the Western Reserve National Cemetery at Rittman, Ohio.
