Mary Harris

Mary C. “Candy” Harris, 76, died Friday morning in her home at New Philadelphia.A daughter of the late Nunciato and Divina Paglia Leone, Candy was born December 28, 1929 in Chicago IL. She married Homer Harris on July 12, 1946. Entering the field of retail, her career grew to become the sales manager of the local Montgomery Ward Company where she was employed for 16 years. Additionally, she devoted much time to caring for the terminally ill with Hospice of Tuscarawas County.In addition to her husband Candy is survived by two daughters, Sherry Johnson of New Phila. and Patti Slimack; one son Ernie Harris of New Phila; three granddaughters, Heather (Christian) Hunt of Dublin, OH, Lindsey Harris of West Lake and Susan Slimack, and three grandsons, Seth Harris of New Phila, Michael and Nicholas Slimack.In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers Gerald and Eugene Leone.Visitation will be Sunday January 29, 2006 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday in Sacred Heart Church at 1 p.m. with Msgr. George Schlegel officiating.
