Mary Genevieve Wright, 93, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the home of her daughter.A daughter of the late John and Maria (Gripu) Comanita, Mary was born June 21, 1914 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.On December 29, 1934, Mary married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Wright and together they raised two daughters, Marlene and Helen. Mary and Bob celebrated 42 years of marriage just prior to his passing in 1976.Mary was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia since 1934 and was very active in the community over the years. She was a member and past president of the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, former officer of the New Philadelphia Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, a 50 year member of the Women of the Moose Auxiliary and a former Girl Scout leader. During World War II, Mary volunteered with the Salvation Army at the Dennison Depot and she also worked with the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections for many years. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and tatting.She is survived by her daughters, Marlene (Richard) Anderson of New Philadelphia and Helen (Bud) Lahmers of Dover; granddaughters, Cathy (Steve) Wells of Gnadenhutten, Debbie (Tom) Brown of Sugarcreek, Vicki (Jeff) Cox of Dover, Karen Vance of Dover and Rayna (Kendall) Garrett of Dover; 14 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob; a great-great grandson, Logan Broome; sisters, Anna Haugh, Helen Waltner and Victoria Mason and brothers, John, George and Nick Comanita.Family and friends may call on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia with Pastor William Deist officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
