Mary Elizabeth Dugan, 77, of Old Town Valley, New Philadelphia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 20, 2016.
A daughter of the late Robert and Ruby (Gustafson) Evans, Mary was born on February 4, 1939 in New Philadelphia.
She attended St. Joseph High School and married the love of her life, Jerry L. Dugan on December 29, 1956. Alongside Jerry, she helped to build their home, raise their family and enjoy trips with one another. Mary was a longtime member of the New Philadelphia Church of Christ and an active volunteer of the clothes room program for nearly 40 years. She enjoyed teaching a senior’s swim class at the Y.M.C.A, and was known for her countless quilting and sewing projects. For many years, she also served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. Her family will miss her delicious baked goods of cream puffs and apple pies as well as her love for gardening and canning.
In addition to her husband of nearly 60 years, Mary leaves behind their children, Jeff (Becky) Dugan, Edward (Brenda) Dugan, Kathy (Kevin) Mayfield, David (Wendy) Dugan, and Randy Dugan; two brothers, Joseph Evans and Gene (Jan) Evans; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; two expected great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Evans, Jr. and Thomas Evans and a granddaughter, Julia Dugan.
The family will greet guests on Monday, May 23, 2016, from 9-11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Tim Hatfield will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. All are invited to join the family for a meal and fellowship in the New Philadelphia Church of Christ following services.
