Mary Catherine Carr Homan, age 82, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, December 08, 2010, in her home following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Lawver Porcher, Mary was born in Warwick Township, near New Philadelphia, Ohio on February 1, 1928.On March 29, 1945, Mary wed Herman Carr who preceded her in death on May, 13, 1980. As a couple, they reared five children. Mary remarried and enjoyed seven years of marriage with Robert Homan who preceded her in death on August 19, 1988.Mary was a former member of the New Philadelphia Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed being at home with her family and friends and spending time with her dogs Tillie, Pete and Cashew. Additionally, Mary liked listening to country music, playing card games as well as euchre and spending time tending to her flower gardens. In her younger years, Mary looked forward to outings where she often went square dancing.Mary will be missed by her family which includes two daughters, Karen (Gary) Smith of Alliance and Ruth (Rick) Mack of New Philadelphia and; three sons, Logan (Elizabeth) Carr, of Sugarcreek, Ronald Carr and Lloyd (Jody) Carr all of Tuscarawas.14 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents and first and second husbands, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Hollister and Dorothy Carr; and a brother, Charles Porcher.The family will receive friends on Friday, December 10, 2010, from 5-8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. David D’Angelo will lead a funeral service celebrating Mary’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday December 11, 2010, at 10:30 AM. Burial in the East Avenue Cemetery will follow.
