Mary Carmella Mroczkowski, 84, of Dover, died early Thursday morning, September 13, 2007, in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover following a lengthy illness. Mary’s passing came one day before her 67th wedding anniversary with her husband Pete.A daughter of the late James and Carmella Chitti, Mary was born July 16, 1923 at Burgettstown, Pennsylvania.Mary attended Midvale High School and on September 14, 1940, she married the love of her life, Peter Mroczkowski. Together, Mary and Pete raised three children, Connie, Marlene and Gerry.During World War II, Mary worked for Reeves Steel in the galvanizing department and following the war, she went to work for Dover Appliance. Then in 1968, Mary and Pete bought the Roswell General Store which they operated until their retirement in 1995.She was a member of the former St. Elizabeth Catholic Church at Roswell, where she served on the Altar Society, and a current member of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia. Mary’s family will remember her as an excellent homemaker who had an outstanding ability to always make something out of nothing. She enjoyed cooking meals for her family and her family especially enjoyed the meals which consisted of her special homemade spaghetti or pizza recipes. She was also an excellent seamstress having made many articles of clothing for her family. Mary especially cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Mary is survived by her loving husband, Pete, with whom she would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary; her children; Connie (Bill) Ivan of New Philadelphia, Marlene Mattevi of Columbus, Ohio and Gerry (Ann) Mroczkowski of Dover; grandchildren, Mary Jo (Jerry) Brown, Michael Ivan, Lori (Kevin) Ames, Michael Mattevi, Mark (Lisa) Mattevi, Jennifer (Chris) Kern and Matthew Mroczkowski; great grandchildren, Caitlin Brown and Joseph and Alex Mattevi; a sister, Rose (Joe) Martinez of Massillon, Ohio and a brother, Leroy Chitti of Tuscarawas and a sister-in-law, Helen Chitti of New Philadelphia.She was preceded in death by her parents, a great granddaughter, Isabella Mattevi and three brothers, Domenick, who died at infancy, and Domenick and Frank Chitti.Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 16, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake service being held at 7:45 p.m. Monsignor George Schlegel will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
