Mary Fouts Barr (nee Farmer), 93, of New Philadelphia died December 16, 2017.
The beloved daughter of the late George A. and Grace W. Owens Farmer, she was born August 24, 1924, in Uhrichsville, Ohio.
She was a 1942 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. During World War II, she served as a clerk for the Air Service Command at Wright Patterson Air Field and in the same capacity for the Army Corps of Engineers in Columbus, Ohio. She was secretary for the First Presbyterian Church of New Philadelphia for 14 years where she had been a member for over 61 years. She served the church as a deacon and as a member of Presbyterian Women. She was also a life member of the Lady Elks and was active in the New Philadelphia Bridge Club. She loved playing bridge and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandsons.
Mary is survived by daughter Susan M. (Robert) Banker of Strasburg, Ohio; son Douglas R. (Jill) Fouts of Streetsboro, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jennifer Still (Tom) Hostetler of New Philadelphia, Ryan T. Fouts (Kayleigh) Still of Orville, Ohio, and Kristen Fouts (Michael) Lukas of Hudson, Ohio; two great-grandsons, Drew B. Hostetler and Brennen Hostetler, both of New Philadelphia, Ohio; step-daughter Kathy (John) Albright of North Canton; step-son-in-law Pat Mazzulo of Washington state; and one step-granddaughter, Angie Mazzulo, also of Washington state.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and high school sweetheart, Robert V. Fouts; her second husband, Reverend W. Stuart Barr; and a step-daughter, Patsy Mazzulo.
Cremation was completed through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A memorial service celebrating Mary’s life will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church at New Philadelphia with Rev. Mark Unrue officiating. Following the service, the family will greet guests during a luncheon in the Geib Family Center located just next to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Private inurnment was held in Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville.
