Mary F. Bair, 84, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 while in the care of Community Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.
A daughter of the late Vernon J. and Elva A. (Powers) Boyd, Mary was born July 18, 1933 at Baltimore, Maryland.
Mary graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland High School. She worked for 18 years as a dispatcher with the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and was proud to be the county’s first female deputy. Mary also owned and operated Video Memories for 25 years; she loved creating wedding videos and tribute videos for her clients.
Among her many joys in life, Mary enjoyed cooking for her family and attending school and sporting activities of her grandchildren. Mary was also passionate about serving her community, she spent more than 20 years as a volunteer with Community Hospice. She was also an avid environmental advocate who spent years fighting to keep a landfill from being placed near Dundee Falls.
Mary is survived by her children, Henry “Louis” Schott, Mary Beth Thomas, Claire Hawk, Kimberley (George) Breehl, Peggy (Dale) Korns, and Thomas (Jeasica) Schott; two sisters, Joan (Henry) Marconi and Martha (Lee) Gierschick, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a son, Robert Schott and a daughter, Marty Sallade.
Visitation will take place Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 1-2 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Brian Flood will celebrate a service celebrating her life at 2 PM.
The family requests memorial contributions in Mary’s name be directed to Community Hospice, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
