Mary Ann Peacock, age 70, of Canton, formerly of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, October 30, 2004 in Mercy Medical Center. Born in Strasburg February 21, 1934, she was a daughter of the late John and Ruth Heim Perko. Mary Ann was reared in Wainwright, and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Dennison with the class of 1951. Mary Ann was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Wainwright until the parish closed. Mary Ann was a homemaker most of her life. Her friends will remember her working occasionally at the former Legget’s Restaurant, the Nichol’s Snack Stand, and Newburg’s 5 & 10. Later in life, she enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and playing Tetris on her Gameboy. She leaves behind her husband of nearly 52 years, John Peacock, whom she married November 15, 1952. Survivors also include two daughters, Vickie (companion Erwin Grimminger) Peacock of Canton, O, and Mary Ann (Jim) Olivares of San Diego, CA; two sons, John D. (Sue) Peacock of Apple Valley, CA, and Tom (companion Todd Foster) Peacock of Jamestown, NY; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeff, Bryan, Andy, Todd Jr., Josh, Bradley and Ashley; two sisters, Shirley and Delores; and a brother, John. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Terri Peacock in 1981. Friends are invited to call Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory of New Philadelphia. The Rev. Hugh B. Berry will lead Mary Ann’s funeral following visitation at 7 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. Cremation will be conducted at the Geib Tuscarawas Valley Crematory following the ceremony.Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Peacock Memorial Fund in care of the Massillon School Employees Credit Union, 46 Federal Avenue N.W.
