Mary Allen Hellem

Mary Allen Hellem, 70 of New Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2007, in Union Hospital at Dover, following a brief illness.A daughter of the late John and Tellie (Toney) Workman, Mary was born July 28, 1936 in Clear Creek, West Virginia.Mary was a graduate of Clear Fork High School in Clear Creek, West Virginia. Mary was formerly employed for several years at the former Espenschied’s Restaurant at Dover and was most recently employed at the Pro’s Table Restaurant at New Philadelphia.She had many joys in life such as birds, books and flowers but her most precious joy was her family. Mary was always willing to make personal sacrifices in order to provide for her family.She is survived by four daughters, Jona (John) Scott of Port Washington, Juanita (Bruce) Hudnall of Dover, Peggy Hellem of Sherrodsville and Sarah (Ernest) Host of Bowerston; grandchildren, Amanda C. Hudnall, Matthew C. Hudnall, Kayla Enos, Emily Host, Matthew Host, Tim Scott and Julie Scott; great grandchildren, Justin, Casey and Colton Scott; sisters, Halline (James) Thompson of Sylvester, West Virginia, Joan (Joseph) Blevens of Clear Creek, West Virginia and Mamie Suttle of Clear Creek, West Virginia and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Forrest Hellem, three brothers, Carlos, Cleve and Kenneth Workman and two sisters, Madeline Griffin and Jewel Meadows.Family and friends may call in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Mary’s life will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Hugh Berry officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Dover Burial Park at Dover. Immediately following the service on Thursday, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
