Mary A. Bertolini, age 94, of New Philadelphia, a formerly of Midvale, died peacefully late Monday evening in Schoenbrunn Health Care Center at New Philadelphia. Born at Teetle, Austria on August 24, 1911, Mary was a daughter of the late David and Adele Moratti Menapace. Mary was a familiar face in Midvale throughout the mid twentieth century. An active member of the former St. Paul’s Catholic Church at Midvale, she helped with the famous polenta dinners and in various capacities throughout the church. Widowed at a young age, Mary was the primary care giver to her daughter and son. While a homemaker first and foremost, she worked over the years to support her family at the former Belmont Enameling plant, for the Timken Company, and worked cleaning houses and hanging wallpaper. When not busy at work or around the house, Mary and her sister could be found quilting. So proficient were they, that three or more quilts could be finished in just one season. Mary is now together again with her late husband, John Bertolini, who died in 1950. She leaves behind her son Eugene John Bertolini of Midvale, and daughter Mary Ann Angelitti also of Midvale. Two sisters, Ida Mazzie and Henrietta Haskett, both of Dover, and several nieces and nephews complete the family. In addition to her husband and parents, a sister, Annie Graham and three brothers, Art Menapace, Henry Menapace and Freddy Concini as well as infant brothers, precede Mary in death. Friends are invited to call Friday afternoon from 4 until 7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Monsignor George J. Schlegel of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate funeral services immediately following visitation at7:00 PM Friday evening.
