Marvin L. Enochs

September 19, 1941 — January 20, 2014

Marvin L. Enochs, age 72, of Dennison died peacefully, surrounded by his family, while in the care of Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia Monday evening, January 20, 2014.

A son of the late Roy and Evelyn (Debee) Enochs, he was born at Barnesville, Ohio on September 19, 1941, and was best known to family and friends as “Pops” or “Marty”.

Throughout his lifetime, Marty provided for his family as a union mason, a road and bridge builder, and ultimately retired in 1990 from the former Resource Exploration at Dennison after working in the oil fields for a number of years.

Marty enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved companion, Linda Lockhard; working on cars, following the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians as well as watching Turner Classic Movies. He also enjoyed spending time out of doors, fishing, drinking beer, and sharing his life stories with whoever happened to be around. During the winter months, Marty loved to relax and share many of the same stories indoors gathered around his wood burner.

In addition to his companion, Marty is survived by a daughter, Ann Maffitt of Dennison, five sons, Howard “Bill” (June) Walker of Dennison, Robert Midcap of Dennison, Mark(companion, Michelle Garbrandt) Enochs of Uhrichsville, Paul (Robin) Enochs of Malvern, and Joseph (Dawn) Enochs of Gnadenhutten; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patty (Hughie) King of Chester, West Virginina, and Debbie Staats; and a brother, Paul Enochs, both of Canton.

Completing the family are numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his former wife, Iona Rose Enochs; three brothers, Jake, Bill, and Chuck Enochs and a sister, Bonnie Lathem.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Private inurnment will follow in the Union Cemetery at Uhrichsville.

In gratitude for the exemplary and attentive care given to Marty the family wishes to acknowledge, his granddaughter, Caitlin who has been by his side for the past nine days and to the staff of Community Hospice.

The family wishes that memorial contributions in Marty’s name be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
