Martin Vesco

Martin “Marty” Vesco, age 88, of New Philadelphia passed away on October 31, 2022.

Marty was born on December 10, 1933, in Wainwright, Ohio to Carl and Anna (Bonvechio) Vesco. He graduated from Tuscarawas High School, and joined the United States Army.

He was an avid supporter of the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Boosters and was named its first honored member.  Marty also was known as the fish guy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Fish Frys.  In his younger years he enjoyed bowling and playing baseball in Wainwright.  He was elected into the Tuscarawas County Oldtimers Hall of Fame.  Marty was also a lifetime member of the Tuscarawas V.F.W.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Ann (Meechan) Vesco, who he married on August 9, 1958; children, Jeffrey “Jake” (Cindy) Vesco of Pickerington, Dan (Cheryl) Vesco of Plain City, Kristy Vesco of New Philadelphia and Martin (Cathy) Vesco, Jr. of Uniontown; grandchildren, Nicole Vesco, Zachery Vesco, Morgan (David) Zuckerman, Tyler (Emily) Vesco, Tessa (Alex) Lerch, Sara Vesco and Grace Vesco; great-grandchildren, Jacob Steele, Kyleigh Steele, Kinsley Vesco and Braxton Vesco; brother, Thomas (Pam) Vesco; sister, Roseann (Tom) Andreas; and sisters-in-law, Roanne Vesco, Betty Vesco, Patricia Hobart and Frances (Butch) Walton.

Marty is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Anna Vesco; his father and mother in-law, Thomas and Sofia Meechan; brothers, Ralph Vesco and Carl Vesco, Jr; sisters-in-law, Catherine Fish, Mable May and Mary Simmons; brothers-in-law, Daniel Meechan, Russ Walton, Phil Simmons and Gene Hobart; and his beloved dog, Ozzie.

The family will receive guests in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 4, 2022.  Family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia with military honors.
