Martin L. Hidey, 65, of Uhrichsville, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a period of declining health.
A son of the late Luther and Margaret (Zedi) Hidey, Martin was born March 28, 1948 at Dover, Ohio.
Martin attended New Philadelphia High School and earned his General Education Diploma while serving in the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War with the 101st Airborne Division. Over the years, Martin was employed at various businesses..
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda (Maple) Hidey whom he married on September 5, 1970; two daughters, Kathy Jentes of New Philadelphia and Brenda Phelps and her fiancé, Danny Billiter of Dover; two sons, John Hidey and his wife Jessa of Uhrichsville and Sam Hidey and his wife, Emily of Camp Lejeune and seven grandchildren, Cody, Brittany, Alexis, Davetta, Samantha, Elise and Caitlin.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Steven, Frederick and Victor; three sisters, Jane, Helen and Margaret and two granddaughters, Ashley Phelps and Tapinga Hidey.
In keeping with Martin’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory. Martin’s family will host a memorial reception on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 5 p.m. at New Life Church of God, 115 South Avenue, Dover, OH 44622.
