Martha Ann Straub, of Dover, a loving, intelligent, proud yet humble parent and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. She is now soaring with the birds.
The daughter of the late Ralph Charnock and the late Martha (Loper) Charnock Walker, Martha was born in Dennison, Ohio. A lifelong resident of Tuscarawas County, she married Glenn Straub in 1951 at the First United Methodist Church in Dover where she has continued to be an active member ever since.
Martha worked throughout her lifetime beginning at a bakery while attending Dover High School. She then worked at General Telephone as a long distance operator, Tuscarawas County Soil Conservation and the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services. Martha was a member of Judea Shrine and a volunteer for Community Hospice, Meals on Wheels and Union Hospital.
Her family, friends and faith were most important to her. She is survived by her children, Sue (Gale) Kimble of Dover and Tim (Ann) Straub of Eugene, Oregon; her grandchildren, Heidi, Daniel and Christopher Straub and Scott Kimble; two step-grandchildren, Shane Kimble and Jennifer Newburn and two step-great grandchildren, Bailey Kimble and Audrey Grace Newburn. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Delmar Straub of Dover; a sister-in-law, Doris Straub of Strasburg and she had 10 nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Robert A. Walker; her husband, Glenn who passed away on April 20, 2005; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Donna Charnock; a sister-in-law, Jean Straub and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Straub.
In keeping with Martha’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and cremation will take place through the care of the Geib Funeral Center in Dover. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
