Martha Louise Galbraith

Martha Louise Galbraith, 102, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, August 30, 2012 at her home following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Rev. John G. Exline and Emma Clara (Wilson) Exline, Martha was born May 9, 1910 at Madison, Ohio.

Martha attended Stark elementary school then one year at Central High School before graduating from Canton McKinley High School in 1928. She then attended Oberlin School of Music.

She retired in 1958 from Reliable Auto at New Philadelphia where she worked as an accountant. She was also employed at other various establishments over a 30 year career which include, Canton Repository Want Ad Department, Simpson Church where she served as secretary, Canton Smelting where she was the secretary to the president.

During her time working at Canton Smelting, Martha met her future husband; Robert W. Galbraith. The couple would eventually wed on October 15, 1938 at Canton, Ohio and together they raised two children, Anne and Stephen.

Martha was Methodist by faith and was a member of AARP and the Farm Bureau.

She is survived by her children, Anne Louise (Brit) Rothrock of Freedom, Maine and Stephen Robert Galbraith of New Philadelphia and many nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert and three brothers, James, Paul and Dwight Exline.

In keeping with Martha’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.
