Martha G. Ervin, age 91, of Bolivar, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 3, 2012 in Hennis Care Center at Bolivar following a period of declining health.
Born in Gnadenhutten on October 5, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Otto G. and Letitia F. (Kinsey) Rank.
After graduating from high school, Martha married her lifelong companion Ralph K. Ervin on July 6, 1938.
Martha was a homemaker throughout her lifetime and was a life member of the First Moravian Church of Dover.
There, she served as an Elder and a Sunday School teacher. Martha also greatly enjoyed her participation in the church’s choir and the women’s fellowship.
Martha is survived by her children F. Kay (Lloyd E.) Porter of Massillon and Leland D. (Karen A.) Ervin of Bolivar; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, on April 15, 1998; and 2 sisters and 1 brother.
The Rev. John Wallace will officiate a service celebrating Martha’s life on Thursday, June 7, 2012 beginning at 11 a.m. in the First Moravian Church at Dover. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow the service in Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg.
Friends are invited back to the church where a meal will be prepared and served by Martha’s church family in the fellowship hall.
