Martha Elizabeth Schneiter

Martha Elizabeth Schneiter, 91, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, March 04, 2011 in New Dawn Retirement Community at Dover following a period of declining health.A daughter of the late Virgil and Ethel (Swearingen) Mathias, Martha was born April 23, 1919 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.Martha graduated from New Philadelphia High School. She then continued her education at Flora Stone Mather College, Western Reserve University, and Spencerian College at Cleveland, Ohio. She was formerly employed at Timken Roller Bearing Company where she worked as an Office Clerk.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia as well as the Order of Eastern Star #222 of New Philadelphia.Surviving are cousins, Dorothy McConnell of Columbus, Ohio, John (Mary Frances) Mathias of Travares, Florida, Betty Lacy of Athens, Ohio, Mary Ann (Norm) Leggett of Denton, Texas and Nora (Mario) Petrie of Fallston, Maryland; her husbands’, Don, cousin, Jim (Cathryn) Welshenbaugh of Massillon and dear friends, Charlotte Mahaffey, Rose McClain and Kim Mahaffey.Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald H. Schneiter who passed away on June 19, 1994; a brother, Elmer L. Mathias and a cousin, Ruth Hill Kinsey.Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Steven R. Bailey officiating.
