Marshall Frank Skelly, Jr. age 78 of Summerville, South Carolina and formerly of New Philadelphia died Thursday, December 21, 2017 in Trident Hospital at North Charleston, South Carolina.
Born in Midvale on September 19, 1939, Frank was a son of the late Marshall Frank Skelly, Sr. and Leah (LeJeune) Skelly.
Frank was the valedictorian for the class of 1957 of the former Midvale High School. Following school, he entered into the United States Army for three years. Upon his discharge, Frank became a State Trooper for the Ohio State Highway Patrol and later went to work with the former Y&O Mining Company. Frank retired in 2006 from Progressive Foam where he spent the last decade of his career.
For many years, Frank was a member of Roxford United Methodist Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and later turned his passions to fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his children, Marsha (Lee) Rosenberry of Tennessee, Sue (Steve) Ruble of West Virginia, Rich (Lisa) Skelly of Dennison, and Ron (Jess) Skelly of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister, June Dewalt of Euclid, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Skelly whom he married on June 1, 1961; a granddaughter, and his siblings, Doris Dziegeleski, Ward Lintz, and William “Bill” Skelly.
The family will greet guests on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 10-11 AM in Roxford United Methodist Church where Pastor Ron Heasley will lead a service celebrating Frank’s life at 11 AM. Burial alongside his wife will follow in Roxford Church Cemetery. A meal and fellowship will follow in the church social hall.
