Marlene Jane Stringer, 81, of Sugarcreek and formerly of Dover, died early Monday morning, October 6, 2014 in the Ross Heart Center at Ohio State Medical Center at Columbus following complications from congestive heart failure.
A daughter of the late Robert and Thelma (Kramer) Bigler, Marlene was born November 6, 1932 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Marlene graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1950. On June 6, 1953, she married the love of her life, Jerry Stringer. The couple shared 59 years of marriage prior to Jerry’s passing on October 27, 2012.
She was a member of Community of Christ Church at New Philadelphia and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Stace Maust of Sugarcreek and two grandchildren, Caitlin and Nicholas Maust.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marlene was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Diana Stringer; a sister, Lois Johnson; a brother, Robert Bigler and an infant brother, Larry Bigler.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Marlene’s life will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home with her nephew, Ray Ulrich, officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be held in the Hospitality Room in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
