Mark T. Galay

Mark T. Galay, age 53, of Mineral City, left his body here on earth and took his soul to heaven on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Mark was born on August 7th, 1959 in Union Hospital at Dover to Janet (Davidson) Summers of Mineral City.

He leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Cindy Davidson of Park City, Utah; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Colleen and David Friend of Mineral City, Karla and Bobby Brown of New Philadelphia; two nephews, Mark Davidson of Park City, Utah and Jordan Homan of Barnesville, Ohio; four nieces, Kelly (Shawn) Middaugh of Concord, New Hamphire, Sarah, Rachel and Amanda Homan of Mineral City as well as twin great-nieces, Ali and Collins Middaugh of Concord, New Hamphshire.

Mark was well known in the area from plumbing and heating jobs to truck driving. He drove bus for the Canton Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps as well as spending time abroad during his service in the Peace Corps in Rawanda & Burundi, Africa and Dominica.

UNCLE MARK was famous for his many stories and anecdotes to his nieces and nephews. He always had a funny joke as well as “words of wisdom”. He taught all of Colleen’s children how to drive in an attempt that they would not drive like their mother. However, it was he who had taught Colleen to drive.

Mark was patient and could teach anyone how to do anything. He was the guy you could call in the middle of the night that would talk you through fixing your water leak over the phone. Mark would give anyone who needed it his last nickel and to the very end he never thought of himself.

A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at the residence of his sister, Colleen on August 10th, 2013 from 7:00-10:00 PM. According to Mark himself, no one ever followed his wishes. Someone finally listened and cremation has taken place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.

Memorial contributions in Mark’s memory can be made to the Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis 3838 Massillon Road, Suite 360 Uniontown, Ohio 44685.
