Mark Porter

Mark F. Porter, 64, of Dover, passed away peacefully in the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia on January 17, 2019.

Born in Dennison on September 13, 1954, he was the son of Clara Joann (Kilpatrick) Porter and the late Ralph Wallace Porter.

After graduating from Dover High School, Mark continued his formal education at Lincoln Tech Automotive.

Mark’s hands showed the signs of his passion for mechanics and fixing things. He deeply loved the outdoors, whether fishing, hunting or just enjoying nature. Additionally, he could often be watching drag racing or participating on area bowling and golfing leagues.

Mark married the former Ginnie Eichel on December 8, 1973 in the First Christian Church at Dover. Many will remember Mark and his wife, Ginnie’s kind and hospitable personalities, both who owned and operated M & G Service on Wooster Avenue in Dover for 30 years.

Mark will be deeply missed by his wife, Ginnie of Dover; his daughter, Cate (T.J. Fioritto) Porter-Fioritto; his mother-in-law, Gwen Eichel of Dover; and his sister-in-law, Susan Eichel of Cincinnati. Mark is also survived by his mother, Clara J. Porter of Roanoke, Virginia; his sister, Beth (Tom) Garland of Roanoke, Virginia; and many extended Eichel family members.

Mark’s cremation care will be conducted by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory in Dover and a memorial service is being planned for later this summer.
