Mark D Davis

Mark D. Davis, 58, of New Philadelphia passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 in the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.

Born in Dennison on December 9, 1955, he was the son of the late Carl D. and Haldene F. (Spence) Davis.

After graduating from Indian Valley North High School, Mark joined his father at Davis Radiator Shop which was founded in 1955. He spent the next 40 years working there, currently as the owner and operator of the family business.

A successful blind date turned into a life of love and happiness between Mark and his wife, the former Rhonda J. Sterling. They were married May 6, 1978.

Mark greatly enjoyed being at his home where he often was found in his garden, working on the landscape, or doing home improvement projects. He and Rhonda also loved to go on cruises and travel by land. The pride and joy of his world was his granddaughter, Riley. Many beautiful memories were made between her and “Papa”. Additionally, Mark was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.

Mark will be deeply missed by his wife, Rhonda; his daughter, Carly (Jeff) Positano of New Philadelphia; his granddaughter, Riley; his sisters, Cris McCarthy of New Philadelphia and Melissa (Rick) Baker of Bolivar; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Norma Koppes; and his nephew, Craig Mark McCarthy.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia on Thursday from 12 to 2 and 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Mark’s life will be led by Pastor Larry Fletcher in the funeral home’s chapel beginning at 7 p.m.

Family and friends are invited to the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home, following the memorial service where a meal will be shared.
