Mark Allen Martin, age 35, of Wilkshire Hills, died Wednesday evening in Aultman Hospital as the result of injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident July 22. Mark was born in Canton, O. October 16, 1968, to Sue Ellen Spring of New Philadelphia and Marty Martin of Estero, Florida. Mark was a 1987 graduate of Tusky Valley High School. He continued his education graduating from the University of Akron in 1991 having studied business management. During college, he met and fell in love with the former Kathleen Root, whom he married September 9, 1995. The couple had a special relationship together and enjoyed both living and working together as owners and operators of Martin Homes Inc. Mark is the third generation in his family to have operated the residential construction company. He was a board member of the Ohio Manufactured Homes Association and was the secretary of the OMHA’s Hall of Fame Chapter. Those who knew Mark know that he adored his five-year-old son, Jackson. Mark had just completed a season as an assistant coach of his son’s tee ball team. Aside from tee ball, Mark enjoyed spending quality time outdoors with his wife and son. In addition to his parents, wife and son, Mark will be sadly missed by his brother, Jon Martin of Dover; his maternal grandmother Mary (Delbert) Phillips of New Philadelphia; his mother-in-law, Shirley Root of Wooster; a sister-in-law, Joyce (Mike) Ray, brothers-in-law Randy (Diann) Root, Rod (Denise) Root, and Kevin (Michelle) Root. Mark was an uncle to Logan Martin of Dover, as well as Matthew, Shanna., Shelby and Joshua Root and Justin Ray.In addition to his paternal grandparents, and maternal grandfather, Mark’s father-in-law, Lloyd Root preceded him in death. Friends are invited to call Sunday afternoon anytime after 1 with the family present from 1 to3 and 6 to 8 at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory of New Philadelphia. The Rev’s Dick Harvey and Steven R. Bailey will co-officiate a funeral service celebrating Mark’s life Monday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow at Ft. Laurens Cemetery. Those unable to attend are invited to send condolences to the family, sign an on-line guest registry and view a memorial to Mark’s life on the funeral home’s website. In death, as in life, Mark continues to give of himself for the benefit of others as an organ and tissue donor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a scholarship fund benefiting Jack Martin in care of the Bolivar Charter One Bank, 11113 Fairoaks NE Bolivar OH 44612. Envelopes for the fund will also be available at the funeral home.
