Marjorie Ruth McClelland, 88, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, April 17, 2010 in County Club Retirement Campus at Dover.A daughter of the late Ernest and Gail (Major) Trimmer, Marjorie was born January 2, 1922 at Hendrysburg, Ohio.Marjorie was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. On October 15, 1937, she married Harold Wayne McClelland and together the couple raised three children, Terry, Mark and Rebecca.She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia and was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary.Marjorie had many interests in life but she especially enjoyed sports. She took part in many bowling leagues and also enjoyed watching sports on television. She enjoyed boating, whether it was sailing or motor boating, just as long as she was on the water. She was also an extensive traveler and a few of her most notable trips were to Europe, Alaska and Hawaii.She will be greatly missed by her family that will remember her most for her smile and sense of humor.Marjorie is survived by her children, Terry McClelland of New Philadelphia, Mark (Susan) McClelland of Hanford, California and Rebecca (Doug) Spade of Frazeysburg, Ohio; two grandchildren, Shawn (Shanda) McGarry of New Philadelphia and Kirsten Loth of Dresden, Ohio; three great grandchildren, Connor, Cade and Carson McGarry; a sister, Virginia McClelland of Dover; a brother, Jack (Annalee) Trimmer of Canton and many nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Harold; a granddaughter, Michelle McClelland; a daughter-in-law, Nioma Jean McClelland; a sister, Martha Bedlion and a brother, Major Trimmer.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Marjorie’s life will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Marjorie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, New York, NY 10001.
