Marjorie Ruth Hobart

Marjorie Ruth (West) Hobart, age 88, of New Philadelphia, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in Schoenbrunn Healthcare Center at New Philadelphia.

Born April 24, 1923 in Fry’s Valley, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Cora (Frank) West.

Marjorie was a 1942 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. On June 23, 1943, she married her late husband, Donald R. Hobart, who preceded her in death on August 27, 1995.

Marjorie was employed as a cashier at Maurer’s Market and Alsco Anaconda for a number of years. Her faith was nurtured at Community of Christ Church where she was a member.

In her free time, she also loved to travel throughout the United States and Niagara Falls, Canada. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, walking, and being outdoors.

Marjorie leaves behind her three sons, Richard (Karen) Hobart of Texas, Steven R. Hobart and Robert D. Hobart, both of New Philadelphia, who she cared for throughout her lifetime, but was especially close with them since her husband’s passing.

She is also survived by her brother, James West of Dalton, O.; six grandchildren, Micah, Seth, Caleb, Leah, Rebecca, and Rachel; her step-grandson, Nick; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Humerickhouse; her granddaughter, Sarah; and her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hobart.

A memorial service will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Elders Jim Watson and Rose Lomax will lead Marjorie’s service. Inurnment will follow the service in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover.
