Marjorie Larkin

Marjorie A. Larkin, 102, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, August 3, 2018, in Country Club Retirement Center at Dover following an extended illness.

Born in Belmont County on January 3, 1916, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Grimes Foreman and a 1934 graduate of Flushing High School. Marjorie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia and also enjoyed playing cards with her friends in their Bridge Club. An excellent cook, Marjorie was also well known for her many baked goods.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, William Larkin, whom she married in 1935; a son and daughter-in-law, Anthony “Tony” and Faye Larkin; and a grandson, Kenny Larkin. She will be deeply missed by her surviving grandson, Rod Larkin of Dover. Also surviving are four nieces, Linda (Frank) Long and Beverly (Chuck) Eliopolus of Henderson, Nevada, Helen Jones of Mineral City and Pam (Matt) Paden of Tampa, Florida, and a great-niece, Terri Eliopolus of Atlanta, Georgia. A sister, Genevieve Haranzo, is also deceased.

Funeral services for Marjorie will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia with Rev. Susan Brown officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Visitation will also be held Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM in the funeral home.

It was Marjorie’s wish that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, OH 44406. Marjorie’s grandson, Rod, would like to express his thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Country Club Retirement Center; the doctors, nurses and staff of Community Hospice; and a very special thank you to Dr. Michael McCombs for his care of Marjorie through the years.
