Marjorie G. Gintz, 98, of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Friday, February 8, 2019 in Park Village Healthcare at Dover following a period of declining health.
A daughter of the late Henry and Florence (Beitzel) Diefenbach, Marjorie was born November 17, 1920, at New Philadelphia.
Marjorie graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1938 and continued her education at Safford Business College at New Philadelphia. She was a former employee of Marsh Industries.
She was a longtime member of the First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia where she was a former member of the choir. Marjorie was also a member of the former McDowell Music Study Club and several Bridge card clubs.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Calvin) Tobin of Black Hawk, South Dakota; grandsons, Brian (Sara) Wurtzel of Warren, Minnesota, and David Wurtzel of Jacksonville, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Robert G. Gintz whom she married on September 8, 1946 and her son, Alan Gintz.
Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 10 to 11 AM. A service celebrating Marjorie’s life will begin at 11 AM with Pastors Jeff Gerber and Jill Lovett officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery.
