Marjorie Bernice Trachsel

Marjorie Bernice Trachsel, age 85, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, February 28, 2014, while in the care of Community Hospice House.

A daughter of the late Scott William and Emma Nettie (Krebs) Bucher, Marjorie was born at New Philadelphia on August 29, 1928.

She was a 1946 graduate of Dover High School and a long-time member of Dover Alliance Church. For a period of time, she was employed by J-Mar Builders, Inc. and Jamesway Builders, Inc. and from 1965-1979, she was the “Story Lady” at Dover Public Library.

Marjorie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who greatly enjoyed caring for her family in a variety of ways that included babysitting her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren. She also spoiled her family by drying fresh herbs from her herb garden and preparing special treats of Danish pastries and banana pudding. Her other hobbies included camping, painting, sewing, needle work crafts, tending to her flower beds, and working jigsaw puzzles.

She will be deeply missed by her family that includes her husband, James R. Trachsel, whom she married on March 30, 1947; three sons, Gerald (Sheila) Trachsel of New Philadelphia, Dale (Sandy) Trachsel of Port Washington, and Steven Trachsel of New Philadelphia; a brother, James (Norma) Bucher of Dover; a sister, Betty (Eugene) Parson and a sister-in-law, Lucille Bucher all of New Philadelphia.

Completing the family are seven grandchildren, Duane Trachsel, Christopher Trachsel, Debra Fox, Lori Trachsel, Steven J. Trachsel, Elizabeth Ingram and Aaron Trachsel; nine great-grandchildren, Paige Trachsel, Taera Trachsel, Landon Fox, Parker Fox, Brady Fox, Korena Trachsel, Briana Ingram, Alex Ingram, and Levon Trachsel as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Bucher and two infant sisters, Anna Margaret and Adabelle May Bucher.

The family will receive guests on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Reverend Richard Rose will lead a service celebrating Marjorie’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Following services, all are invited to the join the family for a time of food and fellowship in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the New Philadelphia funeral home.
