Marion Louise “Liz” McMorrow, age 87, of Dover passed away February 2, 2025 in the care of Hospice at the Cleveland Clinic following a period of declining health. She passed peacefully with her husband holding her hand.
Born October 28, 1937 in Massillon, Ohio, Liz was the daughter of the late Clarence Russell and Wilda (Hensel) Elliott. Liz grew up on family farms in the Stark County area surrounded by the love of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Liz worked in sales and retail throughout her life and will be remembered by many for her work at Harts Department Store in New Philadelphia and Sears in New Towne Mall, as well as her time selling Stanley and Avon products.
Liz enjoyed music and dancing throughout her life. In 1955 she met the man she would marry, Harold Gaile McMorrow, while attending a Sunday evening dance at the Zoar Lake Dance Hall. They were married November 6, 1955 in Justus, Ohio and were blessed with 69 years of marriage, living in Gnadenhutten, New Philadelphia, and Dover. Liz was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed teaching Sunday school, participating in card clubs, sewing for her family, walking their Golden Retriever Rosie, and hosting family gatherings in their home.
Liz and Harold built a beautiful life filled with faith and family. Together, they raised three children Timothy (Joyce) McMorrow of Wilmot, the late Michael (Carol) McMorrow of Durham, NC, and Michelle (David) Ramsell of Dover. Liz was never happier than when she was with her grandchildren, following their activities and enthusiastically talking to them about their hobbies. Liz was a beloved grandmother to seven grandchildren, including Amanda (Doug) Loprich, Kimmy (Danny) Millard, Angie (John) Meek, Clarissa (Cody) Jones, Stuart (Kaitlin) Ramsell, Jennifer (Eric Garrett) McMorrow, and Becky McMorrow; 11 great grandchildren, including Brooke (Cameron) Pruitt, Austin (Alex) Solomon, Evan and Anna Baker, Cheyenne and Betty Millard, Ally (Joe) Crank, John (Taylor) Meek, Ryley Meek, Bayley Meek, and Sophia Ramsell; and five great great grandchildren, including Brayden and Colton Pruitt, Caiden Solomon, Ella Meek, and Liam Crank. She was looking forward to the upcoming births of a great grandson, a great great grandson, and a great great granddaughter. Liz will also be remembered as a beloved aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
In addition to her father and mother, Liz was preceded in death by her son Michael.
A celebration of life service will be held at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home located at 5600 North Wooster Avenue in Dover on Monday, February 10th. Visitation will begin at 4:30pm with services starting at 5:30pm. Those who would like are encouraged to wear something purple, which was Liz’s favorite color.
