Marilyn June Elco, 82, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 in Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness.A daughter of the late Christian and Jessie (Storrie) Steiner, Marilyn was born December 1, 1924 at Fisher’s Hill near Bowerston, Ohio.Marilyn was a 1943 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and was a lifetime member of First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia.She was an avid reader who especially enjoyed reading her bible. Marilyn was also an excellent cook. Her family will always remember her excellent lasagna and German chocolate cake recipes. She also enjoyed listening to music.Marilyn is survived by one daughter, Patricia Peacock of New Philadelphia and one son, James (Mary) Elco of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, John and Katie Elco and Larry Peacock, Jr; one great-grandson, Lincoln Peacock and two sisters, Virginia Donnell of Mobile, Alabama and Mary Jean Swaney of New Philadelphia.She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Joseph E. Elco, Sr, who passed away in May of 1985 and a son, Joseph E. Elco, Jr who passed away in January of 1991. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Nelson Steiner, Grace Mason, Eliza Greenwell, Jessie Block, Sheldon Ford, George Ford, Gladys Hudson, Homer Steiner, Mildred Brown and Violet Carrouthers.Family and friends may call on Friday, May 25, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Marilyn’s life will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 1:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Rev. William Waltz officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.Memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn’s honor to the First Church of the Nazarene, 233 Fair Avenue NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
