Marilyn Hope Risley, age 81, of Willow Spring passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 under the care of Universal Health Care in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.
A daughter of the late Ralph and Doris (Everhart) Phillips, Marilyn, was born in Dover, Ohio on April 13, 1935.
She was a graduate of Dover High School’s class of 1953. She attended Hiram College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1957 and began teaching school shortly thereafter and led to a career spanning over 40 years.
Marilyn was a long time and very active member of Alum Rock United Methodist Church. Through the years, Marilyn enjoyed working on her family farm, traveling the states, teaching primary students, dog training, playing the organ for her church, and spending time with her family.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her son Dana Risley, his wife Yvonne Risley, her four grandchildren, Kayla, Nicole, Austin, and Rachel Risley, and her three great-grandchildren, Derrick, Colt, and Kam, all of NC. She was known by all to be selfless, patient, and a truly loving woman.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 21 for visitation from 10-11AM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. Immediately following at 11 a.m., Pastor Tom Hendershot will lead a service celebrating Marilyn’s life in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Dover Burial Park.
Memorial contributions in Marilyn’s name may be directed to Best Friends Animal Society.
